Island Road Racers are a group of dedicated runners committed to working together to provide support and encouragement to individuals who want to run.We are located on the West Coast of Canada in the city of Victoria, British Columbia. We welcome all runners of all abilities to our club and encourage guests to drop in on any of our workouts. We provide coaching, motivation, support and group training sessions in a structured environment. Bring your enthusiasm and desire to run!
You do not need to join at first; guests are always welcome at IRR workouts. If you decide you like the club and want to train regularly with us we will collect a $20/year membership fee.
We are located in Victoria BC. Our runs take place at various locations in the Greater Victoria area. Some of our routes include: Cedar Hill Golf Course, Elk/Beaver Lake, 7 Hills and Beacon Hill Park. Check out our club runs link for dates and times.
Our workouts range from 200 meters around the track to 35 minute out and backs. We usually run a 15-20 minute warm-up and cool down in addition to our workouts resulting in about 1 hour of running. Come for part or all of the run.
Yearly membership is $20 and includes a running shirt. We also participate in multiple running events throughout the year where you can participate as a club member. The club also organizes a few social events throughout the year to which all members are welcome!

This workout takes place on a 4 km chip trail around the Cedar Hill golf course. Hilly and somewhat forgiving (depending on your pain threshold!) this interval workout will take you past arbutus trees, rocky outcrops, golf greens, and is always sunny. Meet at the parking lot to the right of the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre for a warm up lap. A great speed and strength workout.

Elk & Beaver Lake are at the center of Victoria's running mecca. On Thursdays we incorporate intervals, ranging from 2 – 10 minutes, into this 10km loop. These intervals provide an opportunity for you to work on maintaining a faster pace over longer distances. Meet at the Beaver Lake paved upper parking lot at 5:30pm.

Shake off the rust and train your legs to move more quickly and efficiently. Held at the University of Victoria 's Centennial stadium this workout focuses on speed. A different workout is provided each week. Workouts incorporate warm-up drills and stretching and consist of intervals that range from 200m to 1200m. Meet at 5:15pm for a warm-up around the beautiful Alumni Chip Trail.

With the likes of the mythical Robleda, Gonzales, Oak Shade and Lotbiniere this “Group of 7” is another Canadian treasure. Arguably the most memorable hill run in the city this route takes you through the streets of Fairfield and Oak Bay. Meet at the downtown YMCA at 5:30pm. During the VIRA island series (January to April) we alternate hill repeats on Gonzales Hill. Reflective clothing and headlamps are recommended.

With a perfect mile loop around the park and a scenic out-and-back along the water this is the perfect location for some longer training intervals. Done in preparation for the Victoria Marathon it gets the legs and lungs fine tuned for the longer distance. The perfect ice bath awaits you at the end. Meet at the Beacon Hill Petting Zoo.
